Which sites are suitable for planting begonia?

We choose semi-semi-planting places for the begonia, where it does not hit direct sunlight, in order to avoid burns on its foliage and flowers. The wagons are sensitive to the strong sun and the cold, so we do not want to come in contact with cold and hot air currents. We place the pots with vigilantes in well-ventilated areas to help reduce moisture and prevent the disease from developing. It is worth noting that red-flowered begonias are more resistant to direct sunlight than pink-flowered wagons.

What pesticide do we choose for planting begonia?

Begonias belong to acidic plants such as gardenia and hydrangea and are planted in low pH soil. We choose a special acidophilic pesticide to transplant the begonia into a flowerpot or create a 3: 1 ratio of chestnut and perlite which is excellent for a substrate. Vigilans do not need frequent transplanting, as they have a relatively limited root system. This is why small pots are preferred for their growth.

What are the requirements for watering and lubrication of begonias?

We water the wagons frequently, in small quantities in the spring and warm seasons. In winter, we limit water greatly, as over-watering can cause the shoots to rot at the base of the plant. The begonia has a sensitive root system and we must always ensure good drainage by placing a layer of gravel on the base of the pot. Also, the begonia has low nutrient requirements and we should know that excessive lubrication can cause severe burns on its leaves. We choose special fertilizer for acidic plants, wet or granular and fertilize the vigilantes, in small quantities, once a month, from spring to late autumn to enhance their growth and flowering.

How is pruning and how does the begonia multiply?

A good time for pruning prairie is in early spring in view of its impending flowering. We prefer moderate pruning to shrubby varieties of wiggly, retaining its shape, diluting and peeling its shoots. In dwarf varieties we prune lightly, removing dry branches and leaves to ensure better ventilation. Propagation of begonias is done by seed and stem and leaf cuttings. For propagation with shoot cuttings, cut cuttings of about 15 cm long and after removing the leaves by 1/2 of the length of the shoot, plant in a small flower pot to root. Of course, we can create new wiggly plants if we take a relatively large and mature leaf and plant it in a nursery pot by dipping its stem in the soil while the leaf stays out.

What diseases and insects affect the begonia?

Begonias are easily infected by fungal and bacterial diseases, as their shoots contain a high proportion of water. It is very important to place the vigilante insufficiently ventilated areas and make sure that the vigilante leaves are not dampened during watering to avoid the growth of mildew fungus – which creates white spots on the leaves. Also, when we see circular spots on the leaves of the begonia starting to tan, it means an attack of bacteria. To treat the insects of chickpea, mollusk as well as scabies and squirrels that attack the wagons, we spray with a solution of summer mash or potassium soaps.

And one last secret about begonias

The most common varieties are the Lucerne wagons, a plant tall enough to bloom in winter and spring, as well as the “begonias or blotches” that have dark green leaves with silver spots with characteristic small pink flowers. Also, the most beautiful variety of begonias is considered the royal begonia or queen.
