Vertical gardening – flowering gardens in the country. Constructions, tips, recommendations

Vertical gardening, in fact, is a garden: these are trees and shrubs planted on the site. They can perform not only a utilitarian, but also a decorative function. Hedgerows, which are elements of the garden, have already been discussed before. Now let’s talk about other plantings.

Planting trees and shrubs begin after all the building structures of the site are completed. The design of the garden and the choice of plants are determined by the general style. On a site made in a regular style, trimmed hedges and strict avenues will be appropriate. On a landscape site, preference should be given to picturesque groups of trees and shrubs.

Structural fit

To begin the construction of the garden should be with structural plants. Structural (or skeletal) plantings are large plant objects in the garden. They should continue the design and lines of the site’s architectural designs. These include sheared green hedges, molded trees and living walls.

Additional vertical gardening

With vertical gardening, unlike horizontal, plants are not grown on the ground, but on various kinds of walls and supports located vertically. Vertical gardening is used in the design as a decorative element, to decorate walls and fences, as well as to create shaded corners.

Selection of plants for vertical gardening

The determining condition for choosing plants should be the location of the green walls in relation to the cardinal points. Wisteria, clematis, large-flowered magnolia, rhododendron, honeysuckle, climbing rose will grow on the south side. On the north side are girl’s grapes, Japanese quince, ivy, small-leaved jasmine, camellia.

Planting plants

Plants used for vertical gardening need good, fertile soil.
Grooves are dug in a planned place to a depth of 50 cm. If the fit will consist of one row, the groove should have a width of 40 cm. The width of the grooves with a two-row fit should be 50-60 cm.

Manufacturing of supports

For landscaping walls and fences, different types of supports are used.
Stretched wire. Screws with washers or special eyes are fixed to the wall, between which a wire is stretched, best covered with plastic.
